Xiaomi has unveiled its latest entry-level smartphone, the Redmi A3, in Nepal. This device, the newest addition to the A-series, boasts several standout features that set it apart from its predecessor.

The biggest headliner is the new 90 Hz refresh rate, a feature that will make your phone experience more fluid and responsive. Another exciting upgrade is the Gorilla Glass 3 protection, ensuring the durability of your phone’s display.

Xiaomi has also increased the screen real estate. The 6.71 inch HD screen is a noticeable bump from the 6.52 inch on its predecessor, offering users a more expansive viewing experience.

The screen brightness has also been improved. The phone can reach 500 nits in high brightness mode. It is not the brightest screen to look at under direct sunlight, but it is still better than other entry-level smartphones.

With the waterdrop notch on top, the Redmi A3 looks no different than its competition. All this changes when you flip it; the phone has a stylish Halo design highlighted by the massive circular camera bump.

Add the leather-like texture of the Forest Green colorway; the phone reminds me of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra (Oliver Green).

There are two more color variants up for grabs — glossy gradient blue called Star Blue and Midnight Black with a matte black finish.

There’s nothing new under the hood—Redmi A3 packs the same MediaTek Helio G36 (12nm) chip as its predecessor. This time around, there is no 2 GB RAM, with the base variant now starting at 3 GB. Likewise, the smallest storage option is 64 GB.

The higher memory allows Xiaomi to move from Go Edition to full-fledged Android 14. Xiaomi is even promising 2 years of major updates and an additional year of security patches.

On the photography front, the rear setup consists of an 8MP primary sensor paired with an unspecified auxiliary camera. As for selfies, you get a 5MP front-facing camera.

Finally, the phone gets its juice from a 5000mAh battery. It supports 10W wired charging via the new Type-C port. For biometrics, there is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The price of Xiaomi Redmi A3 in Nepal starts at Rs. 11,999 for the base variant. You can also get the phone with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage for Rs. 12,499.

The 8+256GB memory configuration has yet to be available in Nepal.
