DJI has wasted no time bringing the new Avata 2 drone to Nepal. This second-gen FPV drone was unveiled at the recent Ready to Roll event and is simultaneously available in Nepal as the rest of the world.
So, let’s detail the specifications, features, price, and availability of DJI Avata 2.
DJI Avata 2 Overview
After two years, the original DJI Avata finally has a successor. The Avata 2 offers plenty of upgrades and new features. It has a larger sensor and a longer flight time, and DJI has redesigned the goggles and the controller.
Accessories
DJI Goggles 3 brings Real View PiP (Picture-In-Picture) to the Avata lineup. It features two 10-bit micro-OLED screens with a 100Hz refresh rate. Two binocular cameras give users a view of the surroundings. The camera feed can be combined with the drone feed, giving users the best of both worlds.
The DJI RC Motion 3 joystick now has a dedicated dial for Easy ACRO, which lets users complete pre-programmed students: One-Push Flip, One-Push Roll, and One-Push 180-Degree Drift.
Camera and Stabilizataion
Moving on, Avata 2 brings a 12MP Super Wide Angle camera with a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, 155° Field of View, and improved dynamic range. In terms of videos, it can record 4K/60fps HDR videos and slow-mos at 2.7K/120fps. Likewise, there is now support for 10-bit D-Log M color mode.
DJI Avata 2 uses the in-house RockSteady algorithms to stabilize the footage. Likewise, HorizonSteady locks the footage on the horizon when the drone makes complex moves in the air. With GyroFlow, users can stabilize the recordings in post-production even when the EIS is turned off.
Security
DJI has made the propeller guard on the Avada 2 lighter for better navigation in tight spaces. The new binocular fisheye sensors make low-altitude flights safer. The drone has a Lock button to stop and an automatic Return to Home (RTH) function in case of low battery and signal loss. If the drone lands on its back, the Turtle mode can quickly bring it back to the takeoff position.
Battery and Transmission
DJI Avata 2 now has an improved battery life of 23 minutes and PD fast charging. A new accessory called Two-Way Charging Hub lets the battery with the highest charging draw remaining power from the other two batteries.
The updated O4 video transmission now offers up to 13 km of maximum video transmission distance with latency as low as 24ms. The drone now has a 46GB internal storage that can store 90 minutes of 1080p/60fps videos.
