Cinemax Inc, the authorized distributor for BYD Auto in Nepal, took the stage at the NADA Auto Show 2023 to announce the Dolphin. It is the third major EV from BYD to arrive in Nepal, after the much-successful Atto 3 and E6.

There is only a single variant of the BYD Dolphin available in Nepal with a 44.9 kWh Blade battery and a WLTP range of 340 km. It costs Rs. 39.8 lakh (39,80,000) in Nepal and comes with a 7 kW home charger.

BYD Dolphin: Everything you need to know
Design
The Dolphin is a member of BYD’s Ocean lineup. In fact, it is the EV that basically kick-started the “Ocean Aesthetics” with its initial debut in 2021. Sharp cuts and contours are all part of its design.
BYD has designed the front and rear lights to capture the dolphins’ jump out of the ocean surface. The continuous LED headlight and dynamic taillight are both a key part of the Dolphin’s identity.
This wavey aesthetics of the BYD Dolphin expands to the interior the highlight of which is the curved dashboard with metal trims. Here, you can find the acclaimed 12.8-inch floating center console. The Dolphin also has a 5-inch LCD panel for the instrument panel.
Moving away from the dashboard, BYD has used sports seats with vegan leather for comfortable accommodation.
e-Platform 3.0
BYD Dolphin is built on top of the in-house e-Platform 3 with a Blade battery and an 8-in-1 electric power train.
The only variant of this EV in Nepal features a 44.9 kWh battery and a front-motor wheel-drive electric motor. It is capable of producing up to 70 kW power and 180 NM torque.
It can go from 0 to 100 km/hr in 12.3 seconds. The WLTP range is listed at 340 km.
BYD Dolphin features a 7.4 kW Type 2 AC charging port as well as a CCS 2 DC charging port of up to 60 kW.
Safety Features
The Dolphin has a comprehensive safety feature the center of which is the Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS).
This includes Autonomous Emergency Braking, Rear Collision Warning, Emergency Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise control, 360-degree panoramic camera, blind spot detection system, Hill Decent Control and traffic sign recognition with intelligent speed limit.
